Copy and release a transport in SAP via Jira transition

To start the quality assurance of a transport a copy is usually used in SAP. To track the progress on this copy in Jira an additional issue is created with a minimalistic workflow. The SAP component of SAP Transport Panel can be adjusted that only the content of released transport tasks are integrated into the transport of copies (See all related SAP transport task and release specific transport tasks via Jira).

Transition: IN PROGRESSREADY FOR QA

How to set up the "Original transport management workflow"
SAP Transport Panel: Original Transport Management workflow

  • The field Return code is reset to empty
  • The SAP interface receives the command and creates a copy of the SAP transport.
  • In addition a new issue of a specific issue type is created and is linked to the original issue. The ID of the copied SAP transport is stored in the SAP Transport Panel.
    • Remark for multiple transports: One transport copy is created for each transport and execution of the function.
